One Year of Solar Power at Fairmount!
On July 3, 2025, Fairmount’s solar panels began generating clean electricity. One year later, we’re celebrating an incredible milestone – 50,000 kWh of clean energy generated and 77,000 pounds of CO₂ emissions avoided! Thanks to the vision and generosity of our congregation, our solar array is helping us care for God’s creation while reducing electricity costs and creating long-term financial savings for our ministry.
From July 3, 2025 to December 26, 2025, estimated avoided electricity purchased costs from solar were $2,500. From December 27, 2025 through June 23, 2026, actual avoided electricity costs as compared to the same period for 2025 were $4,200, for total avoided electricity costs of $6,700 for the first year of operation for the solar panels installed over Andersen Hall. About $6,000/year is estimated to be a more likely future avoided electricity cost due to solar.
