Care is one of the ways we embody God’s love at Fairmount — by showing up for one another in tangible, thoughtful ways. Whether through a warm cup of coffee, a handwritten note, a shawl knit with prayer, or a shared meal, we practice presence. We remind each other that no one walks alone.

Our Care Council helps weave a network of connection and support across the congregation. These ministries aren’t flashy, but they’re real — grounded in compassion, rooted in community, and open to anyone who wants to help make church feel like home.

Ways We Care

These simple acts of care are how we make God’s love visible in everyday life. Whether you’re delivering flowers, pouring coffee, or knitting a shawl, you’re helping someone feel seen, supported, and not alone. There’s always room to join in.

Communion Support

The Care Council prepares the elements for communion and assists pastors in serving the sacrament. All ordained elders and deacons are invited to participate.

Flower Delivery

Bouquets made from Sunday’s worship flowers are delivered to those in the hospital, in care facilities, or celebrating a special milestone. A simple gesture, a lasting impact.

Prayer Shawl Ministry

Members knit or crochet shawls that are prayed over and shared with those in need of comfort, healing, or encouragement. Every stitch carries love and care.

Coffee Hour Hospitality

Each Sunday, we extend the fellowship of worship into the commons. The Care Council helps set the table for connection — welcoming newcomers and nurturing community.

Breaking Bread Sundays

On the first Sunday of the month, we worship intergenerationally and share communion as one body. Afterward, we gather for a shared meal. Volunteers help with setup, serving, and clean-up.

Note Writing

Every third Sunday, you’re invited to join the Ministry of Notes — writing cards to members and friends to help them feel remembered and held by this community.

Office Volunteers

Volunteers in the church office offer hospitality behind the scenes — answering phones, welcoming visitors, and supporting small tasks that help the church run smoothly and warmly.
