On Monday, January 12th, Fairmount conducted a trash audit with Doreen Schreiber, Business Recycling Specialist at the Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District. One week’s worth of trash and recycling was withheld, and on January 12th Joanne Westin, Keith Mills and Christine Winters dove right in – separating various types of waste including cardboard, paper, cans, food waste, plastic bottles and jugs, glass bottles and jars, and more. The Cuyahoga County Solid Waste District will compile their findings, provide information on waste type and quantity data, and make recommendations on how Fairmount can improve our recycling efforts and reduce what we send to a landfill. This messy Monday audit was done in the name of continual improvement and striving to care for God’s Creation! We will also use this information to help write a grant for recycling and reuse materials. Stay tuned!
