Undoing Conquest

Undoing Conquest, invites congregations, pastors, and other interested folks into a 4-week online journey (Oct. 9th-30th) that provides a new understanding of ancient biblical traditions and can help progressive Christians reimagine the church and transform our communities. You’ll explore new scholarship about the early Hebrew people and what it means for church today and you’ll discover a plan for integrating justice into liturgy. The primary goal of the course is to start a process for churches to begin to acknowledge the sins of the past, seek reconciliation and repair, and in turn imagine more just ways of building community.

Course details:
Four live zoom sessions led by Dr. Kate Common
Sundays, Oct. 9th, 16th, 23rd, & 30th from 7-8:30 EST

Cost:
 $89 for individuals and $49 for groups, clergy, and seminarians. Scholarships are available if cost is prohibitive.

In the course you will have an opportunity to

  • Learn how the biblical story of conquest was used to justify violence in the name of Christianity
  • Cultivate a new understanding of your faith based on new historical research of Ancient Israel
  • Find deeper meaning by exploring the Season of Origins as a new liturgical season at church
