DESCRIPTION:3rd Annual Silent Saturday Retreat Returns on March 28th! \nSilent Saturday is a one-day silent retreat offering gentle yoga\, a sound bath\, guided meditation\, arts and crafts\, and more. Join us on Saturday\, March 28\, for a 12 hour restorative and reflective day at Fairmount. Our bodies need deep rest—this day is an invitation to ease built-up stress and slow down with silent practices that gently support both newcomers and experienced retreatants. Silent Saturday is open and welcoming to people of all faiths\, those who are deconstructing\, spiritual-but-not-religious\, or simply seeking peace and quiet. DESCRIPTION:Wednesdays in Lent – Rise Up: The Power of the Beloved Community  \nThroughout Lent\, Fairmounters will gather with members of Shiloh Baptist Church\, Christ Episcopal Church\, St. Mark’s Presbyterian Church\, and First Baptist Church of Greater Cleveland for worship\, prayer\, and fellowship. We’ll kick it off with our Mardi Gras celebration at Fairmount and a joint Ash Wednesday service at Christ Episcopal. Then\, each of the following Wednesdays in Lent beginning February 25th\, we will gather from 6:30pm-8:00pm\, each week at a different church. \n The first half of our gatherings will be worship\, teaching\, and prayer–centered on biblical texts that speak to the power of God’s people to build the Beloved Community\, even when the “powers that be” have other ideas. During the second half of the evening\, we’ll sit at tables with people from our different congregations to enjoy a meal and fellowship. DESCRIPTION:The William Birkett Williams Committee presents Dr. Peter Koritansky\, Director of the Center for Civics\, Culture\, and Society at Cleveland State University. \nTuesday\, March 24th\nReception at 5:00pm\nLecture at 5:30pm.  \nDr. Peter Karl Koritansky is a professor and Director of the Center for Civics\, Culture\, and Society at Cleveland State University. He has previously taught at Malone University\, Walsh University\, The University of Prince Edward Island in Canada\, and the Ateneo Pontificio Regina Apostolorum in Rome\, Italy. He has also been a visiting research scholar with the Jacques Maritain Center at The University of Notre Dame and at Princeton University with the James Madison Program in American Ideals and Institutions. He is the author of several articles and books\, including Thomas Aquinas and the Philosophy of Punishment (The Catholic University of America Press\, 2012)\, Engaging the Skeptic: Addressing the Modern Secularist’s Objections to the Catholic Worldview (Justin Press\, 2018)\, and “Thomas Aquinas and the Euthyphro Dilemma” (The Heythrop Journal\, 2021). He now lives in Hambden\, Ohio with his wife\, Pam\, and four children. \nThe Mission of the William Birkett Williams Memorial Lecture Fund \nThe William Birkett Williams Memorial Lecture Fund was established by William B. Williams to serve as a memorial to their son\, 1st Lt. William Birkett Williams\, a fighter pilot in the U.S. Air Force\, lost in action in Libya on January 11\, 1943. The fund provides the income to be used for free lectures on any subject of general interest\, whether cultural\, scientific\, civic or political\, but not overtly religious. The speakers should be of national or international reputation who would be of interest to the larger community. The Fund will be utilized by the William Birkett Williams Committee to fulfill this mission. \nLet us know if you plan to attend.
